Simulation is an integral part of engineering. Pilots use flight simulations to model behavior in flying situations. NASA use simulation to train Space Shuttle engineers for launch countdown operations and controlling Mars rover. Learn to program and code a virtual LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 robot. Throughout this program, students will use mathematical concepts and engineering principles to brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences of instructions to accomplish a specific task. Students will also learn the sequence of communication between the robot, and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the robot's sensors. Learn how sensors such as ultrasonic, color, touch, infrared are used to interact with the robot’s environment. Early classes involve students learning concepts of coding by using visual-based scripts. Mastering that will level you up to JavaScript.

4/6 – Robot Basic Navigation
Learn about drive systems and how to navigate your robot using computer code.
4/13 – Repeat Loop
Learn how to code more efficiently by using a repeat loop to iterate over a block of code multiple number of times.
4/20 – Object Detections
Using ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles. Ultrasonic sensors emit sound waves to measure the distance of objects.
4/27 – Color Detections
The color sensor allows the robot to detect the color of a surface by casting light on the objects.
5/4 – Gyro Sensors
The gyro sensor measures and maintains orientation of the robot. Learn how to make accurate turns using data from the gyroscopic sensor.
